I am the compradore of the river steamer

8.8. CHUEN CHOW, which plies between Hongkong and Macao.

At about 07,30 hours on the 5.5.38, I commenced to collect the passengers fares prior to the 8.S. CHUEN CHOW leaving Macao for Hongkong.

-A Chinese male passenger named CHEUNG SHAP NO told me that he had been employed on a junk that had been attacked and boarded by a Japanese naval party, who had tied his hands behind his back and that he had escaped by jumping overboard, being picked up some time later by a passing junk

and taken to Macao.

CHEUNG SHAP NG showed me rope-burn marks on

his wrists where they had been tied.

CHEUNG SHAP NG had no money and I gave him a

free passage to Hongkong.
